Description

4-Bromo-2-hexylthiophene is a light absorbing organic semiconductor that belongs to the family of polyaromatic compounds. It has been used in the fabrication of transistors for electronics and as a photoinitiator for polymerization reactions. 4-Bromo-2-hexylthiophene absorbs light at a wavelength of 400 nm, which is near the visible spectrum. The absorption of energy by this compound causes electrons to be excited from their ground state to an excited state. When these electrons return to their ground state, they release energy in the form of heat or light.
