1-(3-Bromopropoxy)-4-nitrobenzene, also known as 4-nitrophenyl 1,1-dibromoethane, is a linker molecule. It has been studied computationally and by x-ray crystallography. The molecule is tripodal in shape and has three bromine atoms on the phenyl ring. The conformational studies of this molecule have revealed that it is stable in the conformation with bromine atoms on the right side of the ring. The computational studies have shown that the molecule rotates between two conformations with a barrier of about 0.2 kcal/mol. This conformational study was confirmed by X-ray crystallography and spectra analysis.
