1,4-Bis(2-cyanostyryl)benzene is a fluorescent molecule that can be used as an organic light emitting diode (OLED) material. The fluorescence of this molecule is highly dependent on the solvent polarity and can be either blue or yellow in color. This compound has been studied by cyclic voltammetry, which showed that it is phosphorescent in nature. 1,4-Bis(2-cyanostyryl)benzene has been shown to have a herringbone structure with a large band gap of 3.5 eV. It also has a high degree of orientation in the solid state and can transport electrons at low energy levels.
