4,4'-Bis(3-aminophenoxy)biphenyl (BPAP) is a phenolic compound that is used as a polymerization catalyst. BPAP is soluble in both water and organic solvents, and has a high thermal stability with a melting point of about 300°C. This compound can be used for the catalytic reduction of sulfides and alkylsulfonyl chlorides to produce alcohols. It also has good resistance to sulfinyl compounds and alkylating agents, giving it potential use in the production of pharmaceuticals. BPAP's processability may be affected by its susceptibility to hydrolysis in alkaline conditions.
