2-Bromo-2-nitroethanol is a chemical reagent that has the hydroxyl group. It is a site specific biocide, which is used to kill bacteria. 2-Bromo-2-nitroethanol has bactericidal activity against gram negative and gram positive bacteria. It can be used as a preservative in food and pharmaceutical products.
