• Description: 2',7'-Bis(2-carboxyethyl)-5(6)-carboxyfluorescein (BCECF) is a fluorescent probe that is used to measure the intracellular concentration of Ca2+. BCECF binds to Ca2+ and transfers its energy to a fluorophore. This process results in an increase in fluorescence intensity proportional to the amount of Ca2+ present. The BCECF dye can be used for detecting mitochondrial membrane potential, as well as monitoring changes in cellular metabolism. It has been shown to be effective in mesenchymal cells, blood sampling, and internalization assays.
