Description

2,4-Bis((trimethylsilyl)oxy)pyrimidine is a heterocycle with a pyrimidine ring and an alkylthio group. It has been shown to have bactericidal activity, which may be due to its ability to inhibit the synthesis of RNA in bacteria. 2,4-Bis((trimethylsilyl)oxy)pyrimidine is also structurally related to the nonnucleoside inhibitors of HIV-1 reverse transcriptase. This compound has been studied for its use as an anti-cancer agent.
