Tert-butyl 4-bromobenzylcarbamate is a synthetic estrogen that has been shown to be an effective cancer treatment. It inhibits the growth of cancer cells by binding to receptors on the surface of these cells and activating them, causing an increase in cell death. This drug also binds to estrogen receptors in breast tissue, which may lead to breast cancer. Tert-butyl 4-bromobenzylcarbamate has a hydroxyl group that allows it to form hydrogen bonds with other molecules and is often used for cross-coupling reactions or mechanistic studies. The biphenyl moiety confers optical properties and can be used for epitaxy or nanomolar concentrations.
