Description :
2-benzylcyclopropanecarboxylic acid ethyl ester is an efficient and selective method for the cyclopropanation of terminal alkenes with a variety of unsaturated compounds. In order to generate the desired product, it is necessary to use a transition metal catalyst such as copper or nickel. The reaction is not stereospecific and can be carried out in the presence of alcohols, fluorinated olefins, or other disubstituted olefins.
2-benzylcyclopropanecarboxylic acid ethyl ester has been shown experimentally to be an effective method for the synthesis of cyclopropanes by reacting terminal alkenes with various unsaturated compounds.
