Description

4,4'-Dipyridyl is a group P2 ligand that has acidic properties. It is used as a model system for hydrochloric acid and human serum. The diazonium salt reacts with the 4,4'-dipyridyl to form a metastable form of the ligand, which can be analyzed by structural analysis and kinetic energy spectroscopy. This group also has transport properties that are affected by nitrogen atoms in the compound. The kinetic energy of the redox cycle decreases when an inhibitor binds to the molecule. The redox potential of this compound is less than -0.5 volts at pH 7, which means it is electrophilic and can be protonated by acid.
