Description :
5-Bromothiazolidine-2,4-dione is a synthetic compound that has been shown to have anticancer activity. It was developed as an antitrypanosomal agent and has also been used in the treatment of influenza and other viruses. 5-Bromothiazolidine-2,4-dione is active against trypanosomes, which are single-celled parasites that cause African sleeping sickness. This drug binds to the enzyme adenosine deaminase, which is involved in purine metabolism and DNA synthesis. 5-Bromothiazolidine-2,4-dione has also been found to be an oral antidiabetic agent for the treatment of type 2 diabetes.
