Description :
(E)-Buten-3-ynyl-2,6,6-trimethyl-1-cyclohexene is a cyclic ether that is used as a starting material for the synthesis of other compounds. It can be synthesized by decarboxylation of 2,6,6-trimethylcyclohexanone with lithium diisopropylamide. Alternatively it can be prepared from diisopropylamine and tetrahydrofuran. (E)-Buten-3-ynyl-2,6,6-trimethyl-1-cyclohexene has been used in the synthesis of several pharmaceuticals including erythromycin and cefotaxime.
