• Description: 4-Bromo-alpha-methylbenzyl alcohol is a reactive compound, which can be synthesized in two different forms. The first form is an isomer with the bromine atom on the alpha position and the second form has the bromine atom on the beta position. 4-Bromo-alpha-methylbenzyl alcohol reacts with hydrogen peroxide in order to produce borohydride reduction products. It has also been shown to inhibit protein synthesis by binding to DNA and RNA molecules, such as primary alcohols and benzyl groups. 4-Bromo-alpha-methylbenzyl alcohol may have potential therapeutic uses in cancer treatment due its ability to inhibit cell growth in prostate cancer cells (Mcf7) and breast cancer cells (MCF7).
