Description :
(R)-(-)-1-Benzyloxy-2-propanol is an organic alkylating agent that can be synthesized from a variety of starting materials. It is used as a chemical intermediate in the synthesis of various pharmaceuticals, including 6-chloropurine and thiourea. This compound also has the ability to react with phosphite groups to form a phosphite residue. (R)-(-)-1-Benzyloxy-2-propanol reacts with purines to form alkylations and deaminates them. The reaction product is then chloromethylated, forming a chiral molecule.
