Bis(lauroyloxy)dioctyltin is a reactive synthetic molecule that is used as a sealant. It has been shown to have high resistance against water vapor and light exposure, as well as being able to form a polymeric matrix with calcium stearate. This sealant can be used in the production of polyvinyl chloride (PVC) products due to its ability to inhibit the process of polymerization. Bis(lauroyloxy)dioctyltin can also be used in the manufacture of zirconium oxide-based composites for use in biomedical applications, where it may function as a fatty acid and hydroxyl group-containing additive.
