Description

Tert-Butyl phenyl carbonate is a tertiary alcohol that is used in the synthesis of drugs. Tert-Butyl phenyl carbonate can be synthesized from the reaction of an alcohol with bromine and chloroform in the presence of hydrochloric acid. The drug pharmacokinetics are controlled by factors such as drug concentration, blood flow, tissue binding, and protein binding. The fluorescent derivative of this compound has been shown to bind to human serum albumin and is useful for kinetic studies. This compound also reacts with hydrogen chloride to form tert-butyl phenoxyacetate. The rate of the reaction depends on many factors such as temperature, pressure, concentration, and catalysts.
