4'-Bromoacetanilide is a chemical substance that has been used as an antimicrobial agent. It is a low-energy compound with a second-order rate constant of 0.2s-1. This chemical is an enantiomer of acetanilide, which is also found in drugs such as acetaminophen and aspirin. 4'-Bromoacetanilide can act as a test for the presence of hydrochloric acid by reacting with it to form 2,4-dichlorophenol and hydrogen bromide gas. The chemical has been shown to have anti-inflammatory properties in animals, but it's not known if this effect applies to humans.
