Benzo[f][1,4]oxazepine-3,5-dione is an analgesic that has a carboxyl group and a pyrazolone ring. This compound is isolated from natural sources and can be obtained by reacting the appropriate acid chloride with thionyl chloride. Benzo[f][1,4]oxazepine-3,5-dione has been shown to have antiinflammatory effects in animal models of inflammation. The mechanism of action is not well understood but may be due to the ability of benzo[f][1,4]oxazepine-3,5-dione to form cyclocondensation reactions with alkoxide ions.
