1-Bromo-4-(trifluoromethoxy)benzene is an organic compound that belongs to the group of xylenes. It is a colorless liquid that is insoluble in water and soluble in ether, benzene, and chloroform. 1-Bromo-4-(trifluoromethoxy)benzene has been shown to be an effective inhibitor of tuberculosis (TB) in vivo, with greater potency than other antibiotics such as rifampicin and isoniazid. This agent also has a long reaction time, which may be attributed to its ability to undergo ring-opening reactions due to the presence of a reactive bromine atom. The use of biphenyl as an organic solvent can aid in this process.
