N-Benzyloxycarbonyl-D-proline is a tocotrienol that has been found to have anticancer activity. It has been shown to inhibit the growth of cancer cells in the presence of α-tocopherol, an antioxidant present in many cell types. N-Benzyloxycarbonyl-D-proline also inhibits the proliferation of MDA-MB-231 breast cancer cells and induces apoptosis in these cells. This compound also has proapoptotic activity, which is associated with its ability to inhibit cell cycle progression from G2/M phase to S phase.
