Description

BOC-Lys(Z)-OH is an antitumor pentadecapeptide that has potent cytotoxic effects against both tumor cells and normal cells. It has low toxicity to the host, and does not inhibit the synthesis of DNA or RNA. BOC-Lys(Z)-OH inhibits bacterial growth by binding to cell wall synthesis enzymes, such as penicillin-binding proteins (PBPs) and peptidoglycan synthetase. This drug can be used in cancer therapy because it can penetrate into the nucleus of tumor cells, which are often deficient in membrane permeability. BOC-Lys(Z)-OH also binds to tetrapeptides with high affinity and prevents hydrogen fluoride from enhancing their activity.
