N-(2-Bromoethyl)phthalimide is a piperidine hydrochloride that inhibits the growth of human liver cancer cells. The anti-cancer effect of N-(2-Bromoethyl)phthalimide is due to its ability to induce apoptosis in the cancer cells by binding to the factor receptor. The nucleophilic attack of this compound on the phospholipid membrane results in the formation of pores and lipid peroxidation, which leads to cell death. This compound also inhibits liposomal formulations by interacting with phospholipids on the surface of liposomes, thereby preventing their internalization into cells.
