1,2-Benzenedithiol is a chemical compound that is used in the synthesis of other chemicals. It has been shown to have toxicological effects on humans and animals, including cancer. 1,2-Benzenedithiol has also been found in urine samples of individuals who have consumed Chinese medicinal herbs containing this chemical. 1,2-Benzenedithiol can be synthesized by a solid-phase synthesis procedure with an automated sample preparation system. This process was developed for the analysis of glucosinolates in Chinese medicinal herbs.
