4-Bromo-5-methylthiophene-2-boronic acid is a chemical compound with the molecular formula CHBrOS. It is an aromatic heterocycle and an isomer of 5-bromothiophene-2-boronic acid. The boron atom has three boron substituents, one on each carbon in the ring and one on the sulfur atom. The crystal structure of 4-bromo-5-methylthiophene-2-boronic acid was determined by x ray diffraction and found to have a space group P21/n. This compound exhibits vibrational spectra that vary with temperature and light exposure, as well as photochromism in which the compound changes color when exposed to UV light. 4-Bromo-5 methylthiophene 2 boronic acid can be used in Suzuki coupling reactions to produce a variety of derivatives including formylated products.
