Boc-L-glutamic acid-5-cyclohexylester is a synthetic compound that has been used as a pharmaceutical drug. The structure of this molecule consists of a cyclic peptide with two amide bonds and one aspartyl group. It has been shown to be effective against gram-negative organisms, but not against gram-positive bacteria. This compound has also been used for the treatment of CNS disorders, such as Parkinson's disease, and for the treatment of nicotine addiction. Boc-L-glutamic acid-5-cyclohexylester binds to nicotinic acetylcholine receptors in the body and blocks neurotransmission in the brain, which is associated with its therapeutic effects.
