5-Bromoquinoline-8-carboxylic acid is an allosteric inhibitor of the hepatitis C virus NS5B polymerase, which is a key enzyme in the replication of the virus. It has been shown to inhibit polymerase activity and replication of the virus with high potency. 5-Bromoquinoline-8-carboxylic acid was discovered through structure modification studies on natural product libraries and has been shown to inhibit viral replication with low cytotoxicity against human cells.
