Benzoyl-L-phenylalanine is an active analogue of benzoyl-L-phenylalanine, which has been shown to have antiinflammatory activity. Benzoyl-L-phenylalanine inhibits the enzyme activities of choroidal neovascularization and erythrocyte acetylcholinesterase. It also binds to the cyclic peptide receptor site on a monoclonal antibody, which may lead to its antidiabetic effects. This active analogue also has biochemical properties that are different from those of benzoyl-L-phenylalanine, as it has a higher ph optimum and is more soluble in water.
