O-Benzyl-D-serine (OBZ) is a trifluoroacetic acid peptidomimetic that has been shown to have strong anticancer activity in clinical studies. OBZ inhibits the growth of cancer cells by binding to hydroxyl groups on the cell surface, which prevents the formation of new blood vessels. This drug also has a high cytotoxicity against 2-aminoisobutyric acid and may be an effective treatment for patients with advanced cancer. OBZ is synthesized through an asymmetric synthesis process, which uses a tetrazole as the starting material. The synthesis of this compound is completed by reacting it with benzyl amine in the presence of acetic anhydride and triethylamine in dichloromethane solvent at low temperature, followed by purification by recrystallization or column chromatography. It can be administered orally and has been tested successfully in Sprague Dawley rats.
