Description

Boc-Ala-Ala-OH is an amide of the amino acid alanine with a hydroxyl group. This compound has been synthesized as a stable complex with enzymes and is used in enzymatic methods to study peptidase activity. Boc-Ala-Ala-OH inhibits the enzyme by forming a covalent bond with the hydroxyl group on the enzyme's active site, which prevents it from interacting with its substrate, leading to inhibition of enzymatic activity. Boc-Ala-Ala-OH binds to mammalian cells and lysosomal systems and can be used as a probe for studying proteolytic enzyme activity in cells. Spectrometric data shows that Boc-Ala-Ala-OH is an easily activated molecule and may be useful in synthetic studies.
