Boc-L-alanine-4-nitrophenyl ester (BOCALAN) is an inhibitor of the histidine and serine protease. It binds to the active site of serine proteases, such as trypsin, chymotrypsin, and elastase, thereby blocking their activity. BOCALAN has been shown to be effective in inhibiting monoclonal antibody production by human liver cells. It also inhibits neutrophil activation by binding to azobenzene and neutralizing its protonated form. This product is immobilized onto a resin for use in enzyme assays or other experiments.
