O-Benzyl-L-serine methyl ester hydrochloride is a tert-butyl ester of O-benzyl L-serine. It is a peptide that has been shown to have an expanding effect on the termini and tertiary, but not secondary or primary, structures of proteins. This chemical also condenses with benzaldehyde and tert-butyl alcohol in the presence of sodium hydroxide to produce benzyloxycarbonyl O-benzyl L-serine methyl ester.
