Description

3-N-Boc-aminomethylpyrrolidine is an amine, which is an organic compound containing both a basic nitrogen atom and a group of atoms that carries a negative charge. It has been reported to be synthesized by the electrochemical method. The synthesis starts with the reaction of tert-butyl chloride, benzene, and 1,3-dimethyl-2-imidazolidinone in the presence of perchlorate as a catalyst. This is followed by treatment with 3,4-dihydroisoquinoline to form 1,3-dimethylpyrrolidinium chloride. Reaction with N-(tert-butoxycarbonyl)amine leads to 3-(N'-(tert-butoxycarbonyl)aminomethyl)pyrrolidine.
