Description

4-Bromotoluene is an aromatic hydrocarbon that can be prepared by the reaction of bromine with toluene. 4-Bromotoluene is a reactive compound that reacts with metal hydroxides, hydrogen chloride, and water vapor to form a palladium complex. The reaction mechanism for this reaction is not well understood, but it is known that the presence of metal ions or halides are necessary for this reaction. The reactivity of 4-bromotoluene can be explained by the fact that it has a dipole moment. 4-Bromotoluene also reacts with aryl halides in the Suzuki coupling reaction to produce substituted benzenes.
