N-Benzylquininium Chloride is a type strain of the genus Pseudomonas. It has been shown to have antihistaminic activity. This bacterium can be grown in media with high concentrations of salt, and can grow at salinity levels as high as 12%. N-Benzylquininium Chloride is capable of synthesizing enolate, which are reactive intermediates that form from the reaction between an acid and an alcohol. N-Benzylquininium Chloride is also able to reduce borohydride, which is a chemical agent used for reducing organic compounds. The bacteria is also able to reduce chloride ions to produce 2-aminoterephthalic acid.
