• Description: (2S,3S)-(+)-1,4-Bis(diphenylphosphino)-2,3-O-isopropylidene-2,3-butanediol is a chiral phosphine ligand. It has been used as an optical catalyst for styrene polymerization and as a homogeneous catalyst for the electrochemical oxidation of cyclic aldehydes. This compound has also been used in preparative voltammetric studies of phosphines and diphosphines. (2S,3S)-(+)-1,4-Bis(diphenylphosphino)-2,3-O-isopropylidene-2,3-butanediol can be obtained by reduction of bis-(diphenylphosphine)ethane with lithium aluminum hydride or sodium borohydride.
