Bis(trimethylsilyl) sulfate is a chemical compound used in organic synthesis. It is a reagent that converts alcohols and phenols into alkyl sulfates. The optical system of this compound is unknown, but its biological properties are shown to be similar to those of sulfa drugs. This drug has been shown to have anti-inflammatory effects in traumatic brain injury, as well as neuroprotective effects against oxidative stress. Bis(trimethylsilyl) sulfate also has the ability to bond cleave and react with hydroxy groups, which may be due to its reaction with triflic acid or thermal energy. This chemical compound can act as an acid catalyst for reactions between c1-c6 alkoxy groups.
