Description :
4-Butoxybenzoic Acid is a carboxylic acid that can be found in pharmaceuticals, such as the anti-mycobacterial agent ethambutol. 4-Butoxybenzoic Acid is an intermediate in the synthesis of other compounds, such as methylparaben. It has been shown to have antimycobacterial activity and is active against Mycobacterium tuberculosis and Mycobacterium avium complex. The mechanism of action of 4-Butoxybenzoic Acid is not well understood, but it may inhibit the growth of bacteria through interaction with supramolecular or intermolecular hydrogen bonding. 4-Butoxybenzoic Acid also has x-ray data that can be used for further research on its structure and function.
