• Description: 2-Bromo-5-methylthiophene is a non-aromatic heterocyclic compound with two bromine atoms and five methyl groups. This compound is a substrate for canagliflozin, an antidiabetic drug that inhibits the enzyme dipeptidyl peptidase 4 (DPP-4). 2-Bromo-5-methylthiophene is also used in cross coupling reactions, which are chemical reactions where two different functional groups are connected together by using an acceptor molecule. 2-Bromo-5-methylthiophene has been shown to have fluorescent properties, as well as carbonyl group and vinyl groups.
