Description

4-tert-Butylphthalonitrile is a synthetic compound that has been shown to undergo an irreversible oxidation reaction. The hydroxyl group in the molecule interacts with chloride, generating an organic radical. This radical can then react with other molecules, such as argon or benzyl groups, to form conjugates. Magnetic resonance spectroscopy has shown that 4-tert-butylphthalonitrile exhibits a frequency shift due to the electronic interaction between the hydrogen atom and the benzyl groups.
