N-(Bromomethyl)phthalimide is an ethylene acetal that is used for the alkylation of primary and secondary amines. It is a functional group with a thermodynamic stability of -4.5 kcal/mol, which is very close to that of water (-4.8 kcal/mol). This compound has been shown to reduce intraocular pressure in rats by inhibiting the production of aqueous humor and regulating the production of aqueous humor. N-(Bromomethyl)phthalimide also interacts with immunoassay methods, such as immunosorbent assays and ELISA, which are used to detect antibodies or antigens in biological fluids. The interaction between the drug and antigen-antibody binding sites on the surface of erythrocytes increases the sensitivity and specificity of these assays.
