Description

2-Bromo-5-fluoro-N,N-diisopropylbenzamide is a drug that has been shown to be effective in the treatment of autoimmune diseases and cancer. It inhibits the production of inflammatory cytokines such as TNFα and IL1β in autoimmune thyroiditis. This drug also reduces the incidence of colon cancer and bowel disease. 2-Bromo-5-fluoro-N,N-diisopropylbenzamide prevents ischemia by inhibiting proinflammatory cytokine production. It has been shown to be more potent than other drugs in this class for reducing infarction size and improving reperfusion after myocardial infarction. 2-Bromo-5-fluoro-N,N-diisopropylbenzamide may have antiinflammatory or immunosuppressive effects due to its ability to modulate synthesis of inflammatory mediators from activated macrophages.
