Description

2-(3,5-Bis(trifluoromethyl)phenyl)-2-methylpropionic acid is a synthetic compound that has been shown to be an effective treatment for psychosis and bowel disease. It also has shown potential in the treatment of cancer, bronchial symptoms, and addictive behaviors. 2-(3,5-Bis(trifluoromethyl)phenyl)-2-methylpropionic acid is a prodrug that is hydrolyzed by esterases to the active form. The active form inhibits the synthesis of dopamine and norepinephrine in the brain and may have psychosomatic effects. In addition, this drug may have therapeutic benefits for Parkinson's disease, sclerosis, inflammatory bowel disease, and other inflammatory diseases such as Alzheimer's disease or depression. This drug has also been shown to inhibit hyperreactivity in animals.
