4-Isobutylaniline is a hydrocarbon that reacts with nitroxyl radicals to form an anion radical intermediate. It has been shown to react with nitrobenzene, which may be important for the formation of nitroxyl radicals by electron transfer. 4-Isobutylaniline can also react with nuclei, producing radical intermediates and reaction products. This chemical compound has been used in the laboratory as a solvent and a reagent in organic synthesis reactions. 4-Isobutylaniline is stable under normal conditions but can be heated up to produce a variety of hydrocarbon radicals. The chemical structure of this molecule consists of two methyl groups bonded to one benzene ring and two substituents bonded to the other benzene ring: R1 = H, R2 = CH3.
