Cyclohexyl isothiocyanate (CHIC) is an organic compound that is used in analytical chemistry to measure the activity of cytochrome P450 enzymes. It reacts with the oxygen atoms on NADPH and transfers a hydrogen atom to form NADP+. Cyclohexyl isothiocyanate has been shown to activate prostate cancer cells and stimulate their growth. The mechanism of action of CHIC involves its ability to oxidize the hydroxyl group on DNA and modify the chemical structures of proteins, leading to tumor cell growth. CHIC can be synthesized by reacting cyclohexane-1,2-dithiol with hydrochloric acid.
