2-Chlorobenzaldehyde is a chemical compound belonging to the group of p2 coordination geometry. It can be synthesized by reacting 2,4-dichlorobenzoic acid with copper (II) chloride in an acidic medium. 2-Chlorobenzaldehyde has been shown to have antihypertensive activity and diphenolase activity, which may be due to its ability to catalyze the reaction between glucose and phenol. The chemical reactions of 2-chlorobenzaldehyde are similar to those of benzaldehyde and benzoic acid. The difference is that there is a chloro substituent on the ring in place of a hydroxyl group.
