(6S)-2-[(3-Chloro-4-fluorophenyl)methyl]-8-ethyl-1,2,6,7,8,9-hexahydro-10-hydroxy-N,6-dimethyl-1,9-dioxopyrazino[1',2':1,5]pyrrolo[2 ,3-d]pyridazine-4-carboxamide is a hydroxylated metabolite of the drug erythromycin. It has been shown to be effective in the treatment of bowel disease and cancer. The optical system of this drug is unique in that it is able to bind to DNA and inhibit the synthesis of proteins vital for cell division. This drug also has a high affinity for proteins with an alkylthio group or carbonyl group.
