4-Chlorophenyl-(4-fluorophenyl)methanone is a synthetic compound. It is soluble in organic solvents, but not in water. 4-Chlorophenyl-(4-fluorophenyl)methanone displays hydrophobic properties, and is transferred via the transfer of lipophilic molecules across the membrane. It can be found at temperatures between -30°C and 120°C, with a melting point of 87°C. This compound has been used as a substrate for microscopy studies and to create telechelic polymers. 4-Chlorophenyl-(4-fluorophenyl)methanone is also able to catalyze nucleophilic reactions and proton transfer. The synthesis of this compound was first achieved through the chlorobenzene reaction with aniline and nitrobenzene.
