2-Chloro-N-[4-(trifluoromethoxy)phenyl]carbamoylbenzamide is a chemical inhibitor of the enzyme nitric oxide synthase. It has been shown to have insecticidal activity against insects such as Tribolium castaneum and Tenebrio molitor. 2-Chloro-N-[4-(trifluoromethoxy)phenyl]carbamoylbenzamide also inhibits the activity of ryanodine receptor, an intracellular calcium release channel, and can be used to study its physiological effects. This substance is metabolized in humans by esterases, glucuronidases, cytochrome P450 enzymes, glutathione reductase, or conjugation with glucuronic acid.
