Description :Casanthranol is a natural product with anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial activity, which has been used to treat symptoms of bacterial infections in geriatric patients. Casanthranol has been shown to have the ability to inhibit the growth of a wide variety of bacteria, including Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus, and Streptococcus pneumoniae. It also inhibits cancer cell proliferation and tumor growth in animal studies. Casanthranol has not been found to be toxic in mice at doses up to 2000 mg/kg/day. This product can affect bowel function due to its laxative effects and may cause gastrointestinal irritation. Clinical studies are required to determine whether casanthranol is effective for treatment of inflammatory bowel disease.
