Description

2-Chloro-4-isocyanato-1-methoxybenzene is a widely used chemical in the production of polychlorinated biphenyls. It is a precursor to captan and other herbicides, which are used as pesticides to control broadleaf weeds, grasses, and fungi. 2-Chloro-4-isocyanato-1-methoxybenzene is also used as an intermediate for pharmaceuticals. This chemical has been shown to be effective at removing organic pollutants from water sources by means of dispersive and captivating techniques, with average recoveries of more than 98%. The analytes that can be detected by this method include polyaromatic hydrocarbons. Optimization methods have shown that this chemical can be used in chromatographic techniques to remove interfering substances. Average recoveries were found to be greater than 90%.
